Adding Backgrounds to Your Designs
Updated over 8 months ago

The background of a design sets the stage for your entire creation. It can be a subtle, unifying element or a bold statement in itself. In Ellty, adding a background, whether a solid color or an image, is a straightforward process that can dramatically change the look and feel of your design. This guide will walk you through the steps of adding both types of backgrounds using the Background tab in the Ellty editor.

Adding a Solid Color Background

  1. Open the Background Tab: Start by navigating to the Background tab in the Ellty editor. This is where you'll find various options for customizing your design’s backdrop.

  2. Choose a Color: Within the tab, you'll see a palette of colors. You can select a color that aligns with your design's theme or brand identity. Click on your chosen color to apply it to the background.

  3. Customize the Hue: If you need a specific shade, click on the color wheel to access a more detailed color picker. Here, you can fine-tune the hue, saturation, and brightness to get the exact color you want.

Adding an Image Background

  1. Select Backgrounds tab in the Editor: In the same Background tab, alongside the color options, you’ll find a selection of background images.

  2. Browse and Choose an Image: Scroll through the available images or use the search function to find a specific type of background. These images range from subtle textures to vibrant patterns and scenic photographs.

  3. Apply Your Chosen Image: Once you find the image that fits your design vision, click on it to set it as your background. The image will automatically scale to cover the entire canvas.

Tips for Effective Background Selection

  • Complement Your Content: Choose a background that complements, rather than competes with, your main content. It should enhance the overall design without overwhelming it.

  • Consider Readability: If you’re adding text over your background, ensure that it remains legible. High contrast between text and background can improve readability.

  • Experiment with Opacity: For image backgrounds, playing with the opacity can create interesting effects, especially when layering text and other elements.

The right background can transform your design, setting the tone and mood effectively. Whether you opt for a minimalist solid color or a striking image, Ellty’s Background tab provides the tools you need to easily customize your design’s backdrop. Experiment with different backgrounds to see how they can enhance your design's message and aesthetic appeal.
